Flooding
Flooding remains in the news, but it's moved far downstream from us here in central Iowa. Needless to say, it got a bit scary there for a little while.

During its peak, I ventured down to a pedestrian bridge on the eastern edge of Adel that goes over the Raccoon River. I'd gone there before and taken a panoramic when a recent snowfall made the sight quite beautiful:

Obviously, things changed:

Notice the water level relative to that bridge, specifically the center support. That's a 10-15 foot difference. That's truly remarkable. I'm also curious what happened to the tree that's obstructing the right half of the bridge in the winter one; it's completely gone now, so it's either been trimmed or washed away.

If you're curious, you can click on either one of those images for larger versions.
