The last entry in here is from one week ago today. The Red Sox and Cubs both had good chances to make it to the World Series. My wife was pregnant. Hope abounded. Well, my second son was born Tuesday, the night of the freaky stuff happening at Wrigley Field. I was in the recovery room with my new son and my wife while I watched the Cubs completely derail. I knew right then and there the Cubs weren't going to the World Series this season, despite there still being a Game 7 the next night. Two nights after that, Grady Little ensured that the World Series would appeal to only a small fraction of folks in Florida and New York. I'm not a major league manager, nor do I know Pedro Martinez's normal duration in a game. But, I'd generally pull a guy out of the game when he's been out there for 120+ pitches and is giving up hits. I've been joking that Andrew Joseph is a bad luck charm for the Cubs; their 0-2 since he was born. He'll probably be 7-8 months old before the Cubs win a game. It's all true! But, I am joking. All of it is just unfortunate timing for the little fella. The Cubs losing was SO depressing. It was only followed by the Red Sox losing. I have absolutely no interest in the World Series. I think I heard that the Marlins won last night: BFD. |
