Manny Ramirez, as the commentators mentioned, went to the plate expecting something to happen. Why wouldn't he? Pedro just hit a Yankee in a place that no pitch had any business being, especially from Pedro's arm. Ramirez went up to bat scared to death of the Rocket beaning him upside the head, for good reason. Clemens isn't exactly afraid of going inside on batters.

For the first time in my life, I have to side with the Evil Empire on this one. Manny Ramirez completely over-reacted to a pitch, although definitely up, was no where near him. I saw four or five pitches tonight from the Cubs and Marlins that were closer to the batter than that one ever APPEARED to be.

What Pedro did to Don Zimmer was simply uncalled for. Yeah, Zimmer had no business going straight for Martinez, but Pedro had no right to throw the poor guy to the ground. And what the hell is a bench coach?! I have partial feelings for Zimmer because he was the manager of the 1989 Cubs that won the NL Eastern Division Championship that year. The "Boys of Zimmer" was the first Cubs team that I paid attention to.

Having said all that, I absolutely hate the Yankees. They are, in my opinion, the worst thing to happen to any sport. Ever. Baseball as a sport has been on a steady decline since the Yankees won their first of four World Series titles in five years in 1996. That, coupled with FOX taking over the MLB postseason broadcasts, has contributed to baseball going right into the shitter.

I heard recently that only 13% of Americans consider baseball to be their favorite sport. 13%. Thanks, Steinbrenner, you dipshit. I hope the Yankees get swept by the Cubs in the World Series. Should be pretty interesting team next year after you fire everyone but Jeter (who would you do commercials with?), you short-tempered, impotent, fat fuck.
