This is the second time I've used the title "My New Camera" for a blog entry. The first time was when I got my Sony Cybershot DSC-H1. This time, it's the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1.
Like I was when I got the last one, I'm stoked. The features that I'm most excited about exploiting:- 20x optical zoom (12x in the H1)
- 9MP images (5MP in the H1)
- The Sweep Panorama, that allows you to simply rotate the camera for a 224? picture
- It can shoot up to 10 pictures per second
Now, it'll also record 1080p HD video, something that is obviously cool, but I can't say interests me too much just yet. I have no way to view HD video, plus my old PC can barely handle the SD stuff my camcorder dishes out. That 10-minute video from Katelyn's birthday party that I just posted took my computer an hour and 15 minutes to render. Imagine how bad it'd be with HD video.I love it when circumstances work out in a way that something like this can happen. For example, my wife and I just closed on our refinancing on our house, which makes it so that we won't have a July mortgage payment. That's basically surprise money in the pocket. I really felt bad for my mom and wife, who both pitched in to help pay for this. I have occasional fits of insomnia and the latest was Saturday night/Sunday morning. I think I fell asleep around 4 AM Sunday morning, then was more-or-less up again around 8:30 or so. So, when they had the boys give this to me around 6:30, 7 PM that night, I was absolutely exhausted and really couldn't show excitement. Of course, in the half-dazed state I was in, I wasn't even sure it was real. I do feel bad, though. When you buy something like this for someone like me, you expect a big response and I failed to deliver. Hopefully I can make it up to 'em with some awesome pictures over the next few years. |
