I was able to watch the 9th inning of Carlos Zambrano's no-hitter. Due to various factors, the WGN broadcast of the game could not be viewed here in the Des Moines area (or much of anywhere else, for that matter). ESPN, likely the cause of the blackout in the first place, was nice enough to carry the 9th inning. I love that Len Kasper's voice practically cracks like his going through puberty when he's excited. It was an excellent call, though.
As die hard of a Cubs fan as I am, I very nearly feel bad for the Brewers. Not only did they suffer a 4-game sweep, they ended the weekend tied for the Wild Card, got their manager fired, and had their arch-rival team throw a no-hitter on their field and celebrate it in their locker room. They're now entering a three-game series with the Cubs. If the Cubs sweep, they will clinch the Central Division. Ouch. Truth be told, I'm hoping all this adversity sparks another tantrum from Prince Fielder. Those are fun to watch.
My grandma and great-grandma visited us this weekend. We sat and talked for about 3 hours and had SubWay for lunch. My great-grandma actually brought up politics and to my shock and amazement, expressed some opinions that are quite similar to my own. She even mentioned her experience caucusing, and said that it was her first time going. She's 93. By my count, this will be the 19th or 20th presidential election that she's been able to vote; it's my 3rd. Overall, I was amazed at how well she's doing. She rarely needed help getting up or down out of chairs, could move around with only the help of a cane and the occasional wall to grab... I can only hope for that kind of fitness and health at that age.
She did say that she really wasn't sure who she was going to vote for. She was hoping for Hillary and still wishes that she'd won the Democratic nomination. Basically, she's uneasy about Obama's and Palin's apparent lack of experience.
Changing subjects again, this song is from the game Portal, one that I really enjoyed when it came out bundled in The Orange Box.
