Anna and I have been trying to get pregnant for probably a year and a half now. We'd made the plan a while ago that October would be our last month of trying so that we could still go to Disney World next year for Andrew's birthday. We'd pretty much given up hope. We'd even had the difficult conversation of maybe giving up for good, figuring that after Disney World, there'd be too big of a gap between Andrew and #3. As it turns out, we won't need to worry about that. Friday night, I found myself sitting at the computer, writing an e-mail about something rather mundane, a little volunteer project for the Des Moines Playhouse. In walks Anna, laughing and in tears all at once, asking me, "What would you think about an anniversary baby?" I'm sure the deer-in-headlights look that I used to respond to that question was very reassuring. So, there you have it. We're expecting. Hopefully it's a girl. If it's a boy, Clark Ulysses Butler is the leading name candidate. Poor Andrew had his 4th birthday a little overshadowed. It might be interesting to read my first blog entry I posted after he was born. |
