My 100 GB hard drive that came with my PC has gone kaput. I'm trying to remember what all I've lost...
Lots and lots of photos, including all the full-resolution pictures since I last made a back-up CD (mid-January), pictures I took in Chicago, pictures of Jacob and Andrew meeting their new cousin, etc.
Videos. Any video I've ever recorded with my digital still camera, and a couple others that I had posted online before only exist on that hard drive.
E-mails, including the 9/11 stories I got from Joke subscribers that day. I'm a pack rat.
Music. I have iTunes, so I've lost quite a lot of songs. As I understand it, they don't let you re-download stuff, which is bull.
Stuff for this site, including the design template. I created this new maroon-ish one most-recently, but I obviously can't create any new ones. Luckily I've got quite a few on this server.
I've learned a painful lesson. I think we'll be investing in an external back up drive.
There is some hope left that one day we will be able to afford to have the hard drive meticulously gone-over by a data recovery company or something like that, but that's quite a bit of money, from what I've heard. Donations are accepted. :-)
The good news is that I've got some very helpful friends that hooked me up with a new hard drive and Windows so that I'm not completely toast ... just damn close.
