Great. Prior's down again. Now that Mark Prior looks as though he could miss at least a few starts, the Cubs continue a streak that completely boggles my mind. With the 9 innings against the Cardinals on Sunday and the 1 2/3 innings on Thursday against the Brewers, the Cubs have had exactly 10 2/3 innings this year when all 5 pitchers in their highly touted starting rotation have been healthy. To put that into perspective, Cubs pitchers have pitched 788 2/3 innings so far this season. They've had all 5 of their starters available only 1.4% of the number of innings the Cubs have pitched. The amazing thing about all this to me is that they're still 8 games over .500 and have the 4th best winning percentage in the National League behind St. Louis, Los Angeles and San Francisco. There is still hope in Wrigleyville. Then again, has hope ever left Wrigleyville? Speaking of hope, since the Cardinals show no signs of ever losing another game, I hope the Cubs win today! Clement is pitching and has a wonderful 2.91 ERA. Unfortunately, the Cubs have had an anemic offense when he pitches. |
