Some bad storms have blown through Iowa lately. Quite a few tornadoes, micro-bursts, hail, heavy rain, and strong wind gusts. My aunt had a tree blown over onto her house at around midnight last night. No one was hurt. The picture doesn't show one of the most frightening facts: a branch stabbed straight through a dormer! Like I said, no one hurt. This all happened in Martensdale, IA, which is about 18 miles ESE from where I live. There was also a 106 mph wind gust reported in a town due south of where I live. Yet, I only saw some rain. Earlier in the evening, tornadoes were reported a few miles NW and NE of me. Still, just some rain. Trust me, I'm not complaining. I'm just considering myself lucky, something I very seldom get to do. |
