Holy crap has the weather been getting on my nerves. But it has nothing to do with the snow or the cold; it's the weather guys.
Why can't forecasters get anything right? They're predicting 4-8" over the next couple of days, which means 0-100"; they have no idea. It's all "educated" guessing. On the very likely possibility that I'll be correct, I'll make a forecast for the next year:
Some snow, sleet, freezing rain, rain, sunshine, with some periods of partly cloudy skies, fog, clear skies and severe weather. Highs somewhere between -10° and 125°, lows between -50° and 90°. Winds will be variable out of any direction.
Voila. Done. Quite frankly, that forecast is more help than what they give sometimes. Des Moines residents already know about this, but I'll talk about it anyway. About a month or so ago, every weather forecaster was calling for AT LEAST 8" of snow; we got MAYBE 2. That's just how this winter has been.KCCI is running an ad right now about keeping you under their "Umbrella of protection." This is Iowa, you dumbasses. Step outside with that little P.O.S. SuperDoppler umbrella in July when we've got hail the size of your weather beacon. "Head swollen red, McLaughlin must be dead." Add that to that ridiculous list of Cochran-like rhymes.
