Yet another Iowa/Iowa State game over and done with. Thank god. I have pretty close friends at both schools. It's always interesting seeing some from each school at the same time. They hate each other's schools, but don't want to show it. It's almost amusing. Anna and I are kind of in the middle, me more than her. I grew up a die hard Hawk fan, and then went to ISU for a semester. That one semester was enough to get me moved over a little bit, but not all the way. I had grown some feelings for ISU in those few months I was there, but no hatred for the Hawks. I just wasn't there long enough, I guess. So, every year the game comes along and I have no strong feelings either way. I follow both teams throughout the year and hope the best for both of them that watching them play each other just ... cancels out, I guess. It's great that one of them won, but at the same time it sucks that the other lost. Why is it that the losing team takes the loss harder than the winning team enjoys winning? Is it because they both are so dead-fire sure they'll win? I think so. Cubs won: Good. Cards lost: Good. Hawks won: Good. Astros won: Bad. Yankees won: Bad. Clones lost: Bad. Cornuskers won: Bad. That's 3 of 7. Not very good. Hopefully tomorrow will work out better ... Probably not, though. The Bears play in the Minneapolis Civic Baggie (better known as the Metrodome); Cubs probably won't sweep the Reds, even though they should; the Astros probably WILL sweep the Cardinals because that would be bad for the Cubs. Some optimist I am, huh! |
