Yesterday, January 9, 2002, at 1:28 PM, my fianc?e, Anna Roland, gave birth to our first child, Jacob Michael Butler after 19 hours of labor. He weighs 8 lbs, 5 oz, is 20 3/4" long. I'll get pictures on BrentButler.com soon -- be patient, though!

I've picked out a special joke for today from all the ones I've sent; those are easier to sort through and prepare to send than ones I haven't even read. It's titled, "Country Delivery," and was originally sent on Monday, June 25, 2001. Enjoy.

An old country doctor went way out to the boondocks to deliver a baby. The house was so far out, there was no electricity.

When the doctor arrived, no one was home except for the laboring mother and her 5-year-old child.

The doctor instructed the child to hold a lantern high so he could see, while he helped the woman deliver the baby.

The mother pushed and after a little while, the doctor lifted the newborn baby by the feet and spanked him on the bottom to get him to take his first breath.

The doctor then asked the 5-year-old what he thought of the baby.

The little boy responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place. Spank him again."
