Many Internet sites carry banners / words to the effect of expressing sorrow and sympathy for the victims and families of the September 11 attacks. One site I was on today, though, obviously didn't want to offend *anyone* (including terrorists who might want to buy something from them, I guess) so they put this at the top of their index page: "September 11 was an especially difficult day for the United States." Duh, you think? It'd be like saying, "Osama Bin Laden has some personal issues he needs to work out." Or, "December 7, 1941 was a rather frustrating Sunday morning for the guys on duty on the Arizona." Or like the Hiroshima weather bureau bulletin on August 5, 1945: "Make sure to use at least a sunblock with an SPF of 15 or higher today. It'll be one bright scorcher of a day!" |
