Lucas Charles Butler
Lucas Charles Butler was born at 8:05 this morning with a weight of 7 lbs., 12 oz. Mom and baby are doing quite well.

Anna's water broke at 1:30. Luckily, Anna's parents had taken the kids last night so that Anna and I could have a quiet night at home, so we didn't need to worry about them. We left the house at around 2:15 and faced some new fallen snow on the roads. Plows hadn't gone through, so there were some slick spots, but it wasn't bad. We got to Mercy at around 3.

Overall, things went smoothly (easy for me to say!). For the first time, Anna decided to have an epidural. She's not a big fan of needles, so I was surprised when she went for that. She said she was really thankful she did it, though. She's incredible: one solid push and Lucas was born.

We're both happy, but absolutely exhausted. I stayed up and watched all of SNL last night, so I'm running on about 2 hours of sleep. *yawn* I might go fetch some breakfast.

Mom & baby Lucas had a rough day. Luke is in the NICO due to a heart murmur, but like his mom, he should be fine. We're very tired.
